Centerview Fire Department – Commercial Concrete & Masonry Construction in Newport, TN
60 × 40-Foot Fire Station Addition | Four New Garage Bays | Turnkey Commercial Construction
Project Location: Centerview / Bybee, Cocke County, Newport, Tennessee
Commercial Concrete Construction Built on Experience and Community Trust
When the Centerview Fire Department in Cocke County, Tennessee, needed to expand its facility with a garage addition, Crescostone was entrusted with completing a 60-by-40-foot addition featuring four new garage bays.
The project expanded the existing three-bay station with four additional tall garage bays, providing more space to accommodate fire apparatus and support the department’s operations.
As an experienced East Tennessee concrete and masonry contractor, Crescostone performed the project as a comprehensive, in-house construction effort. Our team handled the work from initial ground preparation and excavation through the concrete foundation, drainage, structural masonry, and subsequent construction phases.
This project was particularly meaningful to us because Centerview and the surrounding Bybee community are part of our hometown roots. We maintain strong connections to the area and continue to visit regularly.
Being remembered and trusted by people in our hometown to undertake a project supporting the local fire department was both an honor and a privilege.

From Groundbreaking to a Completed Fire Station Garage Addition
Successful commercial concrete construction begins long before the first concrete truck arrives. Proper site preparation, foundation construction, drainage, and coordination between construction phases are essential to a successful project.
For the Centerview Fire Department addition, Crescostone provided the construction services necessary to transform the designated area into an expanded fire station facility.
Our crew worked through the major stages of the project, coordinating site work, concrete installation, and masonry construction to deliver a cohesive result.
Site Preparation, Excavation & Grading
The project began with ground preparation and excavation for the new 60-by-40-foot addition.
Our team prepared and leveled the site, established the required grade, and completed the necessary groundwork for the foundation and subsequent concrete construction.
Because proper grading and water management are critical to the performance of commercial concrete surfaces, drainage considerations were incorporated into the project from the beginning.

Commercial Concrete Footings & Foundation Construction
With the site prepared, Crescostone completed the concrete footings and foundation work required for the garage addition.
A properly constructed foundation is essential for supporting the building and providing a stable base for the structural masonry and other building components.
Our team coordinated the foundation work with the planned masonry construction, maintaining continuity throughout the project rather than relying on separate contractors for each stage.

Drainage, Vapor Barrier & Concrete Slab Installation
The foundation and slab construction included important provisions for drainage and moisture management.
Our crew incorporated the project’s drainage system, installed the vapor barrier, and completed the concrete slab for the new garage addition.
The finished concrete floor provides a functional surface for the fire station’s expanded garage space, while the grading and drainage work support proper water management around the structure.
Commercial concrete floors require careful attention to site conditions, placement, finishing, and their intended use. Each of these considerations formed part of our work on this addition.

CMU Block Walls & Structural Masonry Construction
In addition to the site work and concrete construction, Crescostone performed the concrete masonry unit (CMU) block work for the fire station addition.
Our crew constructed the masonry walls and installed the necessary lintels above the garage bay openings.
The completed masonry work established the structural wall system and openings for the four new garage bays.
By performing both the concrete and masonry work in-house, our team maintained direct coordination between the foundation, slab, block walls, and structural openings.

Completing the Four-Bay Fire Station Expansion
As construction progressed, the addition took shape through the completion of the major concrete and masonry phases and the subsequent work needed to bring the building together.
The roof and garage doors completed the transformation into a functional, expanded station facility.
The completed 60-by-40-foot addition increased the fire station’s garage capacity from three bays to seven, with four new tall bays along the front of the facility.
The finished project demonstrates Crescostone’s ability to manage multiple construction disciplines within a coordinated commercial project, from groundwork and concrete foundations to structural masonry and associated construction.
